Grosse Pointe

Grosse Pointe was incorporated as a village in 1880. Grocer Matthias Lodewyk became its first postmaster, with the office named Cottage Grove, on May 28, 1888.

Divided on the liquor issue in 1893, the northern section became Grosse Pointe Farms. It was re-incorporated as a village in 1893, and incorporated as a city in 1934.
